Mrs. Universe Japan 2025 Finalist Mio Nakayama and CEO Kazue Oshima Pay a Courtesy Visit to Shinagawa City Mayor Kyoko Morisawa
June 18, 2025
On June 18, Mrs. Universe Japan 2025 finalist Mio Nakayama (@mio_naka8ma__) paid a courtesy visit to Shinagawa City Mayor Kyoko Morisawa.
Four years ago, while working as a company employee, Ms. Nakayama opened a Pilates studio in Shinagawa City. She later left her company, and in addition to running the studio, she now runs a business that helps mainly working women turn "what they love" and "what they want to do" into a side career. She has close ties with Shinagawa City, having used the Nishi-Oi Startup Support Center when she opened her studio, and this led to the courtesy visit.
During the visit, she shared not only her enthusiasm for the pageant but also exchanged views on social contribution and women's advancement.
Mrs. Universe Japan is not a pageant that judges appearance alone, but a place that celebrates women's appeal including their life experience and inner qualities, and Ms. Nakayama's challenge is giving courage, hope and a sense of possibility to many people.
Mayor Morisawa offered these words of encouragement: "A mother raising children taking on the challenge of a pageant like this will empower many women, I think. Showing everyone that there are opportunities like this to go after what you want to do may be one person's challenge, but I think it is a challenge that is very valuable for everyone."
Mayor Morisawa, thank you very much for taking the time to meet with us despite your busy schedule.
