Over the past several years I have stood on more than 20 stages for seven pageant organizations. Driven by an honest wish to"change", I competed alongside my work, sometimes accepting real risks. Yet there were times when far less changed than I had hoped and I asked myself what I was doing, and times when, however much time and money I spent, I could not get beyond self-satisfaction. It was often frustrating.
Pageants hold great potential whose value has yet to be fully recognized. It may take time, but I will do everything I can to create opportunities for as many contestants as possible to be needed by society and to thrive long after the pageant.
